A ski lift carries people up a snowy mountain, while snowboarders and skiers slide down beneath it. The sky is blue, overhead.Utah is renowned for having some of the greatest snow on Earth, when it comes to skiing. Few places symbolize this dream realized like Park City. As a beautiful and popular tourist town, Park City and the area around it is home to not just one, not just two, but three unique ski resorts. Here’s some information about these incredible resorts and the different people who frequent them…

Deer Valley Resort

Deer Valley Resort is the most upscale of all of the Park City resorts. However, if you are willing to pay for it, the service and facilities are excelling. The entire resort is quite luxurious. And even though it is smallest of the three resorts, having 2,026 acres of skiable terrain, each of those acres is well-groomed and makes for more than enough during a weekend getaway. However, if you are an expert looking to challenge yourself, Deer Valley may not be for you. The skiing is more comfortable than challenging. Families, though, are also quite welcome at Deer Valley, as the resort also features a terrific ski school that is inclusive of children. If you can afford it, Deer Valley is a terrific resort that should be visited on any trip to Park City.

Note: Deer Valley is strictly a skiers mountain, as no snowboarding is allowed.

Park City Resort (formerly Park City Mountain Resort & Canyons)

Park City Resort sits above the historic Main Street in Park City and the Canyons Village area. This means that you are only minutes away from terrific skiing and the rest of what Park City has to offer. There are 7,300 acres of skiable terrain and over 330 trails spread across this gigantic resort. This terrain is a lot more difficulty-oriented than the rest of the Park City resorts. Experts are quite welcome here, and are in for an incredible day of skiing if they enjoy a challenge. Since it is so close to Park City (literally right above it), the community is terrific, and there is a vibrant nightlife for those who are looking for it. As far as lodging goes, this sort of proximity means there is lots of availability around in Park City, including everything from luxurious condos and hotels.

Canyons Village /  Park City

Previously known as “Park City West,” “Park West,” and “The Canyons,” Canyons Resort has gone through several different phases of management over the years. However, this is no reason to stay away, as the newest owners have been wonderful and have brought plenty of great development to the resort. Canyons Resort is now one of the largest ski resorts in Utah, with over 4,000 acres of terrain to ski on! Also, snowboarders are very welcome here, as opposed to Deer Valley, which is strictly for skiing. The very close proximity to Park City Mountain Resort also means that you have an additional 3,300 acres of challenging ski terrain to work with. Like Deer Valley, it is also a great place for families, as well as the best resort for back country skiing in the area.
