Fun Holiday Festivities in Park City: 2015

bokeh lightsThe holiday season is officially in full swing, and this means that there are soon to be a myriad of holiday traditions and events happening in Park City. If you’ll be visiting Park City during the holiday season this year, here are some fun events that you’ll want to be sure that you’re a part of. And bonus—most of these are free!

Friday, December 4: Holiday Sweater Party & Art Market Kickoff
1258 Center Dr, 6:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m.

The Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter is hosting a Holiday Sweater Party to kick off its Holiday Art Market and wants you to join in on the celebration. You’ll enjoy holiday entertainment, light refreshments, and kid’s crafts, plus prizes for those wearing the best holiday sweaters. At the Holiday Art Market you’ll find locally made artwork, including ceramics, photography, paintings, and jewelry.

Saturday, December 19: Santa Comes down the Town Lift
Town Lift Plaza, 5 p.m.

Celebrate the coming of Christmas by watching Santa and his reindeer make their grand entrance down the Town Lift to Park City Mountain Resort’s Town Lift Plaza. As you await Santa’s arrival at around 6:15, you’ll enjoy cocoa, cookies, Christmas carols, and more. The magic typically begins between 5 and 5:30 at Town Lift Plaza.

Thursday, December 24: 53rd Annual Torchlight Parade
Park City Mountain Resort, 5:30 p.m.–dusk

Park City’s Annual Torchlight Parade is a Christmas Eve tradition that is as old as the resort itself. The festivities start at 5:30 p.m. at the Park City Base Area with holiday music, hot cocoa, cookies, and holiday cheer. Then, be sure to stick around to see see ski and snowboard instructors weave down the mountain in unison while waving red flares. As an added bonus, Santa Claus will be making appearances at the resort all day leading up to the parade—even on the slopes—so be sure to come early!

Thursday, December 24: Santa Claus Visits Deer Valley
Deer Valley Resort, 9 a.m.–1:30 p.m.

Santa will be visiting with guests at Deer Valley’s Snow Park Lodge area from 9 to 11 a.m. Then, at noon, you can catch him mingling with guests over at Silver Lake Lodge area. Guests are welcome to bring a camera to take a picture with Santa!

Wednesday, December 30: Deer Valley’s annual Torchlight Parade
Deer Valley Resort, 5:45 p.m.

Deer Valley will be hosting their own torchlight parade on Big Stick ski run on Bald Eagle Mountain, located behind Snow Park Lodge. You’ll be able to hit up the Snow Park Restaurant during the event, and you’ll find complimentary hot cider and cookies served on the Snow Park Plaza from 5:45 to 6 p.m.

Thursday, December 31: Park City Resort’s New Year’s Eve Celebration
Park City Mountain Resort, 3 p.m.–8 p.m.

Head to Park City’s Canyons Village on New Year’s Eve for an evening of family fun! There will be live entertainment, sleigh rides, music, and a massive fireworks display.
